Please do not give up on the cat- no you do not have to give the shots exactly on time. Bitsy a long time tiny diabetic gets a shot when I wake up( while eating her food) and when I go to bed ( again while eating). She is 16 and a diabetic about 12 years. Maybe a vet tech could come in and do this twice a day! This way she or he could see how the cat is and give it some extra attention! She gets a curve every three months and is still terrible to regulate! Have spent thousands on her but she is my baby who has outlived her three friends, her same age, who were never sick! Animals keep us sane and are our best friends. You may not have must contact with the cat, but it took ten years to socialize one of mine and she became a special pet! Never give up and never end her life!

Good advice but the thread is 8 years old.

If your cat is not on a low carb (wet) diet, that is something you need to work on. You must be very careful as you reduce the carbs, because the insulin will have to be reduced as well. Talk to your vet about it, or if your vet has your cat on some high carb diet, find another vet.
