Well, I finally placed my order last night. I decided to go with this one (http://www.armarkat.com/classic-cat-tree/classic-cat-tree-b7801/prod_28.html - broken link) from Armarkat. I wanted a very tall tree, but not a sprawling one. My tonkinese, especially, loves high places, and this has a condo toward the top. Price was great. It was discounted, already, and I found a coupon code on Google for an additional 10% off, free shipping. So my grand total was $113.98.
I'll let you know how they like it when it arrives!
Okay, so I have just written armarkat and asked to cancel my order, because I've found one I like better from their site, and it's only $16 more, with coupon.
This (http://www.armarkat.com/classic-cat-tree/classic-cat-tree-a8001/prod_30.html - broken link) is the one I've decided to go with, now. It's sturdier, and a corner unit.
Edit: WOW, I have to say I am impressed with how fast their customer service is. They refunded my money back into PayPal, and now my new order is processing.
I am looking to buy a cat tree for my tonkinese, and siamese-mix kitten - but most are over $200. They are extremely active (playful), and they love climbing (both indoor cats).
I'm looking online, and seeing that the less expensive ones are faux fleece-covered. Like this one.
The cats have a small two-story hideway right now, that is carpet-covered, and they love it. Does anyone know about the fleece trees, and how they compare to the carpeted ones, as far as quality goes?
Thanks!
The carpeted ones are much better. I have both. Don't buy online as they're much more expensive there. Find your nearest PetsMart as they have the lowest prices on carpeted cat furniture.

Actually, the one I just bought is at least $50 cheaper than at PetSmart and Petco than it was from the dealer direct... and I got free shipping and a 10% discount, by googling for a discount code for Armarkat.
I'll let you know how it stands up (no pun intended) when it's put to the test by my two cats. That sucker is TALL at 80 in! But my tonkinese will love it.

Nope, not the exact same one. This is the closest I could find, and it's much smaller than what I ordered, and cost around $150 more than what I paid for mine. The ones costing around what I paid were very small, and at the Armarkat site were well under $100.
Armarkat is a good company, so I think I made the right choice. I'll let you know when it arrives! I'll be spending my Monday assembling it. >.<
This is the one I have. I bought it at a local Petco last December. I paid $149 for it and the cats love it.
Very nice! It's about the same price as mine, online ($119 - I paid $126 for the one I got). That's got bit wider than I can squeeze in this room (my bedroom), but we're looking at getting a bigger one for the screened-in porch. Something like that would be perfect!
Petco's prices are pretty good, both online and off, I've found. Much better than Petsmart, depending on the item.
The best cat towers can usually be found at Cat Shows and winter is when they are usually found. local builders make sturdy towers for a much better price than the commercial stores which are all probably made in China. I have had to recover mine several times but carpet samples or scraps are easily available. Yes they are heavy but you want one that will withstand a stampede of 2 or 3 wild cats who can hit those things with great speed and strength.

Thanks for the advice! I never thought to check cat shows, but that makes sense. :-)
I was definitely looking for one that was sturdy, so I went with a model that used cedar instead of particle board. HOPEFULLY that will withstand my cats. They're small, but they're active! (And one is still growing, only 5 months old!!).
I am staying with my parents right now, and they have 3 BIG cats. All the cats have the run of the house during the day, but my room is my two cats' sanctuary, so I had to go with a model that was tall, but not wide, and wouldn't fall over with rough play. *Hopefully* this one will withstand their rough play; it's gotten good reviews. The first one I'd picked out got one review that said it toppled over a couple times, so had to be weighted down, which is why I changed my order to the other one. So I'll be looking for something REALLY sturdy that can accommodate 3 15+ pound cats and my two smaller ones, out on the screened-in porch. (it will stay in the spare room when the weather is cold)
