This morning I noticed some unusual litter box behavior from her. She was straining to pee and when she did, not a lot came out. She also used her litter box 3 times in a few hours - not typical at all!

I was on my way to an acupuncture session, but cancelled after I called our vet and was able to get an appointment for Mads right away. I had to leave her there while they tried to get a urine sample for a urinalysis. Broke my heart.

Her little bladder was very swollen and the vet/techs weren't able to get a sample from her, so I went with my gut and decided to treat her for a UTI. We were given the option to give her an antibiotic injection instead of oral antibiotics, thank goodness! If her symptoms aren't better by our follow up appointment in a couple of weeks, the vet is going to do x-rays to check for stones.

My sweet girl is on pain meds at the moment and is resting comfortably. It was quite the ordeal as this mama needs to figure out how to give her the med more effectively. I've got some good scratches on my chest and abdomen.

Hi, Just wishing you luck w/ all this worry. I hope it all goes well. I know any worry about our kitties turns me into a nutcase. Keep doing what a good mom does - care for her babies above all else (appts, time to herself, etc.). It sounds like you're well capable to handle this test.

Hope Maddie recovers quickly. Is it liquid medication? If so you may be able to scruff her to give her the meds. And go in from the side of her mouth, not the front. My kitten was on liquid meds for months and scruffing him worked like a charm.

I and my gang will keep Maddie in thought and prayer, asking for her to be healed quickly and for you to figure out how to give her medications without getting hurt in the process!!

God bless!!

Maddie! Get better!
Takes some time, but she should start to feel better real soon.
I am glad they took her in right away today at the vets, and that you had the time to take her!
Maddie is thankful for her Mama!!!
