I don't know why, but for some reason urine clumps end up behind the rake. My wife and I are starting to wonder if it might have been better to just get a large, open litter box and keep a diaper pail nearby and scoop it up ourselves twice a day. I think the rake gets about 70% of what's in there but it still requires daily maintenance.
OK, I admit this is not as compelling as it could be. I'll work on it.
If you could see me some days skulking around my house on tiptoe with camera in hand, you wouldn't feel so badly. We who love our felines act in strange ways to the world that is, but really not to us.
The more we hang out with felines, the more feline we become.

Try using a silicone lubricant spray on it. Make sure though, that you allow for plenty of drying time before putting it back together.
Also make sure you're not putting to much litter into the tray.
I had a feeling your cat may be Siamese. It has only been our Siamese fosters that have been the really interesting, curious and smart ones about the automatic litterbox, TV, etc. It was our first foster Siamese that did the paw in the litterbox thing just to see it scoop. Very cute regardless.
As far as the poster who is having problems with it raking...try a different litter - some scoop a lot better than others because they are better at clumping and definitely set it to the longest setting. If it scoops too frequently, everything seems to go to the bottom so it wouldn't allow the urine to clump well enough. It is a great invention for one cat but it seems like two and up start to complicate the process.
What a beautiful cat you have!! Cats have the funniest reactions to things. Mine will run around the house for no reason and jump if you sneek up behind him. He is a Russian Blue and he talks all the time. I would like to use a litter box like that but mine is a slinger. If he slings litter outside of the box he then will pee in the pile. I am trying to break him of that habit. Anyone have any ideas?

We get the idea. But additional pix of Jack are always welcome.
