Well then you're in a pinch. While cats -will- eat other stuff doesn't mean they -should- eat other stuff.
The most accommodating animal you can feed when they run out of food is a rat. They will generally be able to eat a small portion of whatever it is you're eating.
It's cheaper to be able to just grab a can of cat food at the grocer than to procure a chicken thigh for them to chew on.
Fortunately even if you're out of your main cat food people will usually have some meat in the freezer (ground beef, pork, and poultry are not recommended because of the surface bacteria before the meat was ground together) like a drumstick or pork chop. Even if the store you get your cat food from is closed, you can get cheap cat food from Walgreens and CVS and even 7-11 just to get them through until the next day as they keep later hours.
I keep a flat of cat food cans in the pantry in case I run out of the boys' regular food. I also have sample bags of kibble from pet expos that I can use on the girls if I am running behind a day or two to get their food refilled.
