I've had well over two dozen cat fosters in the last three years and four cats of my own, but never had one that drooled like a dog with happiness and joy while being petted.

This behavior is flattering and a little messy, LOL. I didn't know some cats drooled like dogs when very, very happy. Have any of your cats done this?

Older cats tend to do it more. I've been around one old cat who really drooled when happy, and my old indoor cat is beginning to. I don't much mind.

Yep, I had a feral that adopted me and he was a droolin' fool! He would get in my lap and "knit" and purr and drool. Unfortunately, since he was an outdoor kitty mostly and ate and drank who knows what, he also passed gas when he did this. It was quite unpleasant!

Never owned one but knew of one - her owner's swear that she picked up the behavior when they adopted a drooly St. Bernard. LOL

Oh dear, thanks for a laugh! I've had nothing but rescued ferals for years and one of my present five is a right little drooler. Under "normal" petting she's fine but get her going and it's like a gushing fountain of spit ... An "outside" one I had a few years ago would trill up a purring storm and drool so much that she blew large bubbles. Had me in stitches many times and her feline buddies would be quite riveted by the performance. Never had a farter, though.

Boyfriend Cat was a champion drooler and when he shook his head it would go all over the place. it really was a mess but he was so happy and content it really didn't matter. Lord he was a sweetheart and even tho he has been gone for 22 years I think about him every day. He was a stray who showed up when another stray was in heat, hence his name.

My Pinky (the one who just had the leg amputation) has ALWAYS been a drooler since kittenhood.
He's now 10 and still drools when he's mushy

my little roast is a drooler. he is seriously affectionate. he usually only drools during our morning hugs or after work. its like we re-introduce ourselves to each other. he is the best. hes only 3 and has always done it.

Oh yes! My husbands cat used to knead his chest, purr and drool all over. It was quite the sight!
