Charlie passed in my arms early this morning. Her brief improvement was only the respite of the "goodbye hours" so common with pets.

When we had our relay conversation with vet, he thought it was most likely age-related systems failure since we could eliminate the most common acute causes. Ultra-low temperatures in the region continue to prohibit travel.

Thank you all for your support and well wishes during this emotionally difficult time. Give all your furbabies an extra snuggle from me today.

I'm so very sorry to hear this. The suddenness of her illness must have been so shocking for you, but maybe it was easier for her that she didn't have to go through a slow decline, and passed at home, peacefully with those who loved her. RIP Charlie.

I am away from home and thus haven't checked in as much recently.

Damn.

I would think, for what it's worth, that there probably wasn't much more anyone could do then after all. I would certainly suspect she was older than that 6-7 estimate. Remember you did a great thing, giving an abandoned kitty a home for the rest of her years. My sympathies....

oh, I'm so sorry to hear that! I was afraid it sounded like 'shutdown', and was hoping she'd last until/if something could be done. Sounds like even if you had gotten her in to town, it wouldn't have helped - it's wonderful that at least she was able to be with you when she passed. Try to remember that she knew she was loved, you have her a good home and being loved by a cat is a wondrous thing. <hugs>

If it's any consolation, the weather allowed Charlie's last hours to be in the comfort of her own home, feeling only love.

Charlie left this world on her own terms, in the arms of love. I am so sorry for your loss. Be comforted to know that she is running free.

So very sorry for your loss. Having been there many times,I know how you feel. At least she was home in familiar surroundings and in your arms. Our last loss happened at the vets office in a strange place with strangers. I hate it happened that way,but we needed to leave him there to get the proper care to try and save him. No matter how it happens or where,it is always hard. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
