When traveling with cats, is it necessary to have a health certificate or certificate of veterinary inspection (CVI)? Some states require it for "importing" cats, but does that apply to cats spending one night in a hotel?
The state I'm moving to specifies that no certificate is needed if the animal is a family pet traveling with the owner in a private vehicle; TN specifies that no certificate is needed if the cat will be in the state less than 15 days; MT only requires it if the animal is being sold. Other states require CVI but don't mention if it applies to those just traveling through.
I have their rabies vaccination information. The cats would prefer not to make another trip to the vet.
When Beau travelled, on airlines, no one asked for a health certificate. This summer, when Jasper and I travelled across the country, we stayed in several hotels, no one asked for any health cert either.
Same thing here. My husband drove cross country multiple times with a boatload of our beasts. Not once was he asked about health certificates.
