I thought my last cat didn't cuddle with us on the bed during the summer was because he was so large----his big body didn't need the extra heat! But now, Belina, whom we have had for three months (but she is a year or two old) has stopped cuddling with us in bed now that the weather is warmer!
Ours don't change their habits no matter what season it is - but right now the "kids" would rather be looking out the windows watching birds and emerging insects fly around than cuddle with us. My little Arlo still snuggles up close and usually ends up on my pillow with his belly wrapped around my head. Usually the last thing I hear is his gentle purr...before we banned the whole herd from the bedroom some years ago (the little guys are allowed because they don't spray - if I catch them doing that - it's over baby...) we were covered in cats all night - when you have 2 or 3 cats weighing in at an average of 15 lbs. or so, sleep just becomes a memory!!! So, rest assured your kids still love you. They may just be distracted by something going on outside, but they'll be back
Checkers napped on my lap for about four hours yesterday, despite the 85 degree heat. I kept trying to move him, and he would just stretch, yawn, and resettle himself. *sigh* I don't think even the promise of treats would have budged him!
Cookie isn't a cuddler. She curls up next to me in bed and lets me pet her for awhile, then she runs off to her current hiding place.
cold or hot these guys want to be in a lap in the evenings when we watch TV. Ragdolls are quite large-even sickly Oscar is back up to over 11 lbs. We are all the time shooing them away cause they get quite HOT. But I'd rather have a cuddle monster than a cat who won't let you pet them. That would be so sad to me.
We have A/C so the house is never really uncomfortably warm for us or the cats. They never were bed cuddlers. They have their own favorite sleeping spots at night. Zebulon will follow me to bed and most nights lay on my stomach as I read. That's his personal time with me. After about 15 minutes of that he either moves to the foot of the bed for the night or to one of his sleeping spots. That could be anywhere from under the window near my bed to the living room sofa clear across the house.
Any time of year. Fraidy will sit there and cry until I let her up in my office chair with me, but she sleeps on one of the towers, Fatso sleeps whereever we are, usually stretched down my side, Sam sleeps next to my head, Frodo sleeps in between us or up against one of us (either way, he's gotta be touching someone). Mommabear sleeps on one of the towers, but she was never a cuddly cat to start off with and Squeak usually sleeps on the couch.
oh sure. and often Canute is in my lap when I'm online (or sometimes I bring Hannah in). nothing like a long-haired cat heating up your lap in the hot summer! :yikes:
One of mine will sleep on the bed right up against me no matter what time of year. Usually he curls up against my chest or sometimes the small of my back. Last night he was especially attentive due to having spent all day at the vet's - I can't decide if he was just so happy to be home or was trying to ensure that never happened again!
