My cat went missing about month ago while a friend was keeping him for me until I finished moving. I checked ,animal control, craigslist, petfinder every day to no avail.
I pretty much given up hope and thought today I would check to see if anything came up. I think I found my cat! Unfortunately I can't get to him because I live 2 hours away now and animal control would be close before I get there. I asked my friend if she could get him for me but I haven't heard from her. And I don't think she will get him.
I've even posted an ad on CL to see if anyone can get him until I get down there.
I asked the gal at AC if she could hold him for me, unfortunately they can't do that because its first come first served. I can't do it tomorrow because apparently they are "closed" for adoptions, but open for reclaims.
It seems I will have to wait until Wednesday to get him if he's still there. I would hate to drive all the way down there and he's not there or worse someone picks him up while I'm driving.

Keeping my fingers crossed that your little guy will be waiting for you.
I would call Animal Control again before they close today and check on him. I'd then call every 1/2 hour until you get there, to keep them abreast of how far away you are. They may not care, but they will get tired of you calling and will finally just hold him until you get there.

Have you tried getting in touch with the humane society, spca or other rescue groups in your old area? They might be able to help get the cat and hold until you can get there.

Missnm, that is a very good I idea and I didn't think of that. I told her I would call when I was on the road and when I was close to ensure that he was there. But I like your idea more.
Zugor, I don't know of groups in my area personally, but I will do a google search and check.
Really hoping he's still there tomorrow, taking off work early to get him.

wouldnt this be considered a "reclaim" though...get down there tomorrow and tell them your here to "reclaim" your cat...its not like your trying to adopt a new one, you just want to know if its your cat and bring him home if it is...thats a reclaim in my eyes.

Please keep us posted. I hope you will be able to get your kitty back. It's ridiculous that they won't hold her for you when they are the ones who are preventing you from going there today because they are not open.
I agree with the poster who said to keep calling them. I certainly would. Best of luck to you.

Foxywench, exactly! I said the same thing! However she said since he's been here for so long he has to go through adoption. He was brought in on March 7 or 11 they can't remember. I told her I had photos of him and vet records but she still said I had to go through adoption procedures?????
Thanks Minervah, I hope I can get him back.
