Dear peppermint, i too know too well the heart ache you are feeling. My heart aches for you, your beloved Mom, & beloved Spooky. I have lost too many loved ones over the years.
Cancer is a terrible disease. My beloved wife had it, my beloved mom had it. My beloved Amiga (german Shepherd) had cancer. They now rest in peace, without any pain.
I'm praying here on the mountain, for your beloved Mom & Spooky to have improving condition of health.
my heart goes out to you for all the issues you are now dealing with....my best to Spooky and your mom. You went above and beyond to give this kitty a good home for the years he had left, now you will do the same for him in his last days. I wish you all the best in the trying days ahead, its not easy to loose any beloved family member :-(
I am so sorry you're having to go through such heart ache. It is devastating when our fur babies get sick and there is nothing left we can do to help them heal. And on top of that, you're also dealing with your Mom's cancer. You came to the right place to share your worries...we all understand what you are going through. (((HUGS))) to you. Sending some positive thoughts to your Mom and Spooky.
Just one more thing. Spooky will live forever in your heart. No one can take that away...not even those who say "it's just a cat".
Spooky knows how much you love him. You Mom knows how much you love her and what you do for her. Spooky understands why you have to be away. I'm sorry for your pain.
You are all very patient, he must have a great time with your family. Don't be so sad he was happy when he is alive, and no pity left by him, that's the best.
Peppermint - please join the Feline Lymphoma support group. If it is lymphoma, it may not be too late. And even if you decide not to treat, this group has a world of knowledge that can help you with palliative care.
And I'm so sorry to hear about your mom too. I've had many family and friends with cancer. Some have fought and won, other have managed to fight and live every remaining moment with zest, and others have lost the fight. It's a journey, but it can be a oddly enlightening one. Grasp every moment.
My mom has lymphoma. Spooky has liver and pancreas cancer. My mom's is treatable, but Spooky's is too advanced. We were told he realistically has 1-3 months. I hope it's closer to three. He's doing well so far, and I will be gone almost the entire month of June. I would like to have some more time with him before the end.
