It has been several years since I have had to use a cat sitter. I remember leaving a tip for the sitter... maybe 20%? Also, the pet sitting service now charges a fee for the initial "meet and greet" which is new to me. Is that the norm nowadays?

Thanks

If I'm paying a professional cat sitter, I don't tip. If it's my neighbor, s/he gets a nice gift card from the local gas station, and/or a bottle of wine or case of beer.

My cat sitter didn't charge for the initial meeting, but she does for the second one if necessary -- if something's changed.

When we had a sitter I did tip her. She was great! I have video cameras in my house so I know she was great. I gave her $50 and would have her back in a heartbeat She works for a sitting company and who knows what she actually gets of what I was charged.

I don't say that about the cameras because we "watched her" like all creepy. But we peeked in because you just never know.

You shouldn't tip cat sitters like you tip cows!
