(It's a little hard to see on the photos, but he has autumn leaves and vines growing from his back to represent death and doves to represent life. The sculpt is a very nice, large size and has awesome gold shimmery highlighting)
I've had several professional photos done of Jonas, but I don't have any scans at this time. My favorite has Jonas on a hay bale in a barn...it felt much more 'him' then previous pictures that had him on white wicker or in a wine basket. Here's an older one of Nic and Heather (both looking scared to death)
So am I the only one crazy enough to pay for this kind of thing? I'm commissioning another sculpt by El so I have something to put with Nic's ashes...he'll probably be wearing a little coat and top hat because he was my old-fashioned gentleman. I like seeing how different artists with their different styles interpret the subject...it's always surprising.
No but I love that you have had these done! I want SOOO badly some black and white chalk or charcoal drawings of mine done.
I'm not a huge watercolor fan. I just never liked it for much other than the occasional landscape.
I used to be a professional photographer so of course I would love to have some professional photographs done. It's pretty costly though. But it's something I think about often.
Oh, charcoal would be awesome! I might do that next...thanks for the idea!
It is pretty costly...we get ours done at Petsmart, they have a company that comes with a big trailer set-up. You can get a small picture for just the sitting cost, but if you want a set it does get expensive quickly. I also don't like that you have to buy in sets...like you can't just get a single big pictures, you have to get several sizes. I don't know if that's unique to that company, though.
You can kind of see that Nic's fur on his haunch is ruffled...he kept trying to climb down so I'm just out of sight in that picture. I had to keep holding him, then ducking out of view.
My cats won't sit still for me taking their pictures, let alone a stranger.
A few years ago -- actually, it was six years ago almost to the day -- we were at an art fair, and found a watercolor of two tuxedo cats snuggling by the fire. Their facial markings were slightly different from our cats, but their facial expressions were spot on. Of course we bought it, and it hangs in the upstairs hall. The cats are indifferent, of course; I smile every time I walk up the stairs.
I really love the watercolor. I don't think I would pay the money to have Kitty Kattys picture taken as I am quite 'frugal'. I think for now I will stick with taking my own pictures of him. When I start rolling in the dough, then I might.
That purple looks really nice with the color of his fur. I would love to see the other one you have of him once you get it scanned!

I'm actually very frugal but I save up for stuff like this because...well, no real good reason, I just like it. They were pretty expensive though, especially the sculpt. I'd actually like to get a new professional shot of JJ now that he's a full adult, but right now I can't afford it and he's not supposed to be exposed to any other animals, which would probably include sitting in the same spot where others have been.
But yeah, it's definitely a splurge thing...they represent a year's worth of video games I didn't buy myself. *grins*
