This is in my town and it is typical of the spirit on the community. Sounds like they only had the cat 1 day before the fire. So glad this has a happy ending.

What a wonderful story! So glad it had a happy ending.

The story did bring back some painful memories, though. I lived in Berkeley, California in '91 back when the Berkeley/Oakland Hills fire happened. So many people lost pets that day, and so many combed the hills in the days, weeks, and months afterward, looking for those animals. A book about the fire was published a year or two later called Fire in the Hills -- way too many sad stories.

My best friend and her partner (now husband) lost everything they owned that day except what they were able to fit in their car. Luckily, that included their indoor/outdoor cat, who thank G-d was INDOORS when they were leaving. He lived a long and happy indoor-only life after that.

After being there only one day it's amazing the cat returned.
