Way too much. My Facebook since I became owned by a kitty last October is almost entirely pictures of them and status updates about them. I changed my profile photo to the crazy cat lady from The Simpsons because it felt more fitting.
Thanks Carolyninfl! I was wondering if it was just us!
It's not just you! My husband and I spent probably 1/2 of our conversations on our cats and the rest on mundane things such as where to walk that day, what to pick up at the store, what we'll make for dinner, our computer HO/Adventure games, our next camping trip.... whatever. Unless we're talking to another "cat person" we don't usually mention our cats or just mention them briefly and move on with the conversation. As for family... with 2 new babies (human) in the family, that's almost all they talk about right now. My last real friend died this past June. We would talk about everything under the sun including the cats.
Yes, I absolutely talk about my cat way too much. The only thing I talk about "too much" even more than the cat, is my favorite band...but I think my stories about them are interesting since I know them and stuff...well...my stories are interesting to me. lol My coworkers probably aren't really that interested, they just listen because they're polite.
Don't you sometimes wish you could just say, "here, look at this" and turn your head to a wall and project video from your memory out of your eyeballs so that people could really appreciate all those "you had to be there" moments? Just the thought of Nimbus when he's got a good spaz on is enough to make me laugh...I wish I could just share that with people.
I talk more to my cats than I talk about them. They have learned certain key words like no, din-din, come on, treat and then I have a special voice that I use that let's them know that I am talking directly to them instead of someone else (on the phone or in person).
Unless I am talking with another cat lover without kids the conversation quickly becomes one-sided.
Oh my goodness, we talk about our two kitties all the time! At dinner, out with friends, family holidays, you name it. Most of my Facebook pictures are of the kitties. My two best friends have furbabies and we talk about them constantly. In fact, when the three of us finished college this year we spent this summer sending pictures of our cats to each other to keep us all updated on how the kitties were doing. My parents and in-laws have two kitties each and we talk about them (my grandparents too!) and my cats. When I meet new people, I talk about my kitties. Seriously, they're pretty much ALL I talk about at this point. And I'm happy with that!
I hear ya, its just my hubby and I and we talk more about the cat than anything else. We end up laughing because we always talk about something funny she did
DH and I do the same thing!
