Same here Pikantari, Joe was the only kitten left when I adopted him - the shelter said it was because he was black. He's a sweet, very active boy.

They're not all black, but here are my kittens -- Checkers on the left, Cookie on the right:



At the time the picture was taken, they were hiding from Hurricane Irene.

Their cousin, Cleo, is solid black. She is one loved cat, between my 12-year-old niece and 15-year-old nephew. They all went to the shelter, sat down on the floor, and Cleo was the first cat to approach them. She crawled into my sister's lap, and that was pretty much the end of that.

This is one of the 3 little ones from the feral Mom that we got adopted out. I loved this little guy, he was just so funny and cute. This picture was when they were 3 weeks old.

Our local shelters frequently hold special days for each color cat: calico, orange tabby, black, etc. I think that's a nice idea for those looking for a particular cat.

Black cats are beautiful We had one, all black with not a bit of white. She had green eyes and looked like a panther when she walked.
