My I cat after rubbing against me and perhaps licking my leg with then proceed to open his mouth and graze his teeth against my skin. Sometimes he will apply light pressure like a pinch but never enough to break the skin.

Do your cat's do this? I appreciate the fact that he is trying to be affectionate but sometimes it annoys me. I don't want to freak out about it by scolding him and offend him or confuse him because I know it is his way of being sweet--- but it is annoying. What do you all do when this happens to you or does it?

I only have one that does this...And she had done it since we got her as a kitten. Never, ever breaks the skin...like you said, just lets her teeth graze my hand. It usually when she is sitting in my lap getting loved on...I think it is a definite sign of affection.

Oh I guess I'll just try to learn to like it then. I'm just afraid he'll bite down too hard one day. One time he did it to a friend who was not a cat person and my friend shouted out "Your cat just bit me!". I replied, "That was just a love bite. He was licking you first."

When I rescued my beloved Rufus, I was so taken with how gorgeous he was, I went to him, picked up him and held him like a baby and rubbed his belly, he gave me a few love bites like you mention, I was in love with him immediately. He had gorgeous blue eyes.
Check out my albums, he is the red tabby point siamese mix, the large one, not the baby.

Two of my males are love biters, but they will also gently bite my hand when they want me to rub their heads and I'm not paying attention to them.

Freddy, its good to see you !!

I love, the love bites. They have such a lost in love look on their face when they do it.

My cat loves to bite and scratch my hand when I pet her. I think that she makes a special effort to try to draw blood (which she does often.) And, of course, if she is lying on her side, she makes sure to get her back legs involved for maximum effect, but always in a very loving manner LOL.
