This was posted under another name, so I deleted what I could. Sorry.

This was originally that Utube of cats taking over the beds of dogs.

I mentioned on another forum that dogs mostly want to get along but cats want to dominate. That's not always the case, but when I had a cat I would (as many do) make sure he knew that he would be listened to and his wants would be considered. I think the more you encourage human qualities in an animal, the more they will act like a fellow human. It's a big deal to them, knowing you are the boss, when you open doors when they sit by them and make a sound or you throw things that they drop at your feet. They know that they are important. Their vote matters. I don't think kids or animals should be marginalized.

I had a parakeet who told me when to take the cover off of the cage, when to open the blinds, when he wanted a ride on the pull string in the middle of the room. If you treat them as though they have intelligence you encourage more of the same, no?
