Jasper...he is so great, he came and woke me up this morning, just a quick,"Hi Mom, love you.". And he went back to his bed...if he had been a toddler, I would have had to get up, make him breakfast, and hang with him...

There are many other reasons...tell us yours...

Because my cats never ask for a new phone, new car, new shoes! Plus they don't make my car insurance go up!

They are never embarrassed with what I am wearing, saying or doing. Pure unconditional love.

Because once you feed them and change their litterbox, THEY GO AWAY! Lol!

Perfect animals. They only come around during snuggle times.

LOL love this! I tell my colleagues this often:

I never have that 2am phone call, "Mom, can you pick us up?"

I never went through that stage where you have to replace their shoes/sneakers every other week because they outgrew them!

They can still sleep with you when they're adults.

You can go away for the day and not have to hire and worry about a baby sitter.

They never want to borrow - the car; money; or your favorite footwear/item of clothing without asking so when you go to wear it you can't find it.

Their friends don't leave an almost empty container, not mention it then say, 'but there was SOME left!'

I know this is a cat thread, but I work at a pet friendly store and people bring their dogs in all the time while they shop. We always comment that the dogs are more well behaved than the kids people bring in. Parents let their kids run wild in the store, tearing up everything, but the pet owners keep their dogs on a leash or the little dogs sit in a shopping cart and behave themselves.

But maybe the real truth is that pet owners are just better parents than some kids parents .

That seems to be the case Don, I live in a complex that seems to have as many dogs as people, all exceedingly well behaved. When there were children here they were a problem.

I think in some instances it has a lot to do with parents not knowing how to parent and having too little time for everything, and they often feel stressed and guilty. That's how I felt when caring for two elementary school aged children. It takes a lot less to care for a fur friend than a child.

They're low maintenance compared to most kids these days.
