I keep looking at that toy when I go to the pet store and wondering if my guys would like it. Now that I see the video I KNOW a couple of my boys would LOVE it!!
Mine have the covered version, but the two older cats tired of it very quickly. My youngest plays with it a little, not much. Did your cats ever have one of these nk? I'm just wondering if the one you showed worked better. The picture in the link isn't very good, but you can kind of see the holes in the top.
yep- it is the covered one we had. they would stick their little paws through the slots to move the ball. it was quite entertaining. i think it is like kids toys. take them away after a while and reintroduce them later. seems like a new toy.
sprinkle a little dried catnip over the scratching board area in the center and a tiny bit into the track of the ball
mine have one and they wernt ven remotely interested until I added a little nip to the game lol. now they love it, but like no kudu mentioned I take it away once they seem to e less interested hide it for 2 weeks and bring it back out and they are back to playing with it again

Listen- no self respecting cat is going to give you the pleasure of jumping right into playing with a toy you brought home. They will wait till later to slowly check it out. Now a dog would immediately play with a toy but you know cats---everything on their own schedule.
here is a cute cartoon about more cat toys and the one they like the best.
We bought one of those right after we adopted Angel (ten years ago). She was about 4 months old or so when we got it, and she quickly became obsessed with it. She played with it several times a day until she was a couple of years old, then slacked off a little. But she has never stopped playing with it and still does so regularly. She's become quite an expert with it... she loves to get the ball going around really fast then go a few feet away and watch it wind down. As soon as it stops, she'll run over and attack it with both paws trying to pull it out of the track. She usually repeats this routine 5 or 6 times before she gets bored with it.
None of the other cats have shown much interest in it, other than shredding the scratch pad in the center. It's really a good toy, and one of the few store-bought toys that was a hit with any of my cats.
