My cat, Frida, likes showers too. We leave the water running in a small stream and she jumps in and drinks and soaks her head about 3-4 times per day. She also likes to sleep in the bathtub.
I'm not a pet owner. So this behavior is something pet owners find amusing and encourage?
Otherwise, I would think you could just push the cat outside the door and shut it.
I am an animal owner, one dog and two cats and I do not encourage this behavior.
I would never allow my cats to curl up in my pants then pull them up against my body.
I do have to leave the door open when I shower though because the litter box is in the bathroom and I
want the cats to have access to it at all times.
Funny glass, our Joe puts his paw in the water then licks the water from it most of the time but he's not fond of water otherwise. Orion however doesn't mind getting a little wet, when I lived in an area where it was safe for him to go out with me when I walked the dog he'd go if it was raining - but the dog wouldn't! LOL

Jsper always stalks me, he really wants a drink of water at the sink. He loves to drink from the tap. Sometimes, I leave the tap running for a few minutes...and yes, he always has fresh water to drink. Like three times a day in his water dishes.
My one girl apparently feels the need to guard me when I'm in the bathroom, she sits on the rug by the door when she's done walking around marking everything with her face and then races out. I used to shut the door and she would lay down and frantically scratch the bottom of the door from the outside, leaving wood shavings on the floor so it was just easier to leave the door open a crack, she can't stand any closed doors or closed closet doors, every door, except to the outside and basement in our home is ajar because of her. Our other girl goes wild when she hears the shaving cream can and races in, jumps up and trys to knock it off the sink and runs out, go figure.
My ladycat Angel long ago established ownership of my bathroom, but allows me to use it when I need to. The toll I pay is having to give her my undivided attention when using the toilet. If I'm using the shower, she stands guard just outside the door until I'm finished. As soon as I leave the bathroom, she will resume her position on the toilet lid look everything over to make sure it is in order. Angel is a true sweetheart, and I wouldn't think of shutting her out of one of her favorite places. Besides, I enjoy her company... no matter where that may be.
One makes me open the window so he can sniff the air.
Somehow, I don't sense true love as their motive. haha
