I won't rehash my whole "I adopted a cat out of the streets" story that I recently posted. But basically, as someone who grew up with dogs, I would have never thought to adopt a cat. You can get playfully rough with a dog, they generally come to you right away, and they are more obvious with their affection. So when I decided to bring in my tuxedo cat, it was an adjustment (for him too, I'm sure.) But ten years later, we're still together. He can be playful at times, he takes his sweet time in deciding whether to come to me, and he can be affectionate in his own way.
So chalk another one up for a guy who grew to like cats.
Welcome Tone509, skatealoneskatetogether and tpabes to the club! My cats come running when they hear the front door open. I love seeing their little "fuzzy snorkels", their tails, bebopping my way...
There are a lot of men that have cats. Especially in urban areas. I'm one. They make great apartment pets. I will admit there is a bit of a stigma though, so it makes guys a bit uncomfortable to admit it openly. I think it's pretty stupid though.
Cats carry a lot of stigmas. Mostly unwarranted. One is that they are too feminine, but cats are predators and can be very aggressive.
Another stupid one is that they smell or pee all over the place. This couldn't be farther from the truth. Especially when there are only 1 or two cats. They are very clean animals. Smells are usually caused by owner's not properly maintaining the litter box or using a bad litter brand.
I have no problem with dogs though. I like them both as pets.

Ah hah! Another one, thanks for posting. The more the better! I think you are right about some of the stigmas, but cats are awesome pets for guys. Low maintence!
I'm waiting to rescue a siamese from the shelter...his "release" date is Jan. 14...he is only 4 weeks old now....4 more to go. Can't wait.
Hi ~ one more cat-loving guy here.
I love how Siamese cats look so majestic and snooty! I just saw a cage full of Siamese cats at a pet store where a Siamese rescue was showing off their kittens. Even as little, tiny things they have an air of superiority. So beautiful.
Man the shelter gave both kittens and the mother to a "foster" home. So they may not return them and I got to keep looking. =(
you should talk to b.Frank. Maybe he can locate one for you! LOL So sorry to hear that! I know I often visit petfinder.com and come across tons of siemese. don't give up!!
