Yesterday was moving day for Momma and her baby boys. Out of the basement and up to the second floor.
I configured a rather large storage closet off my living room when the house was redone. 13 x 5 with baseboard heat and regular double hung window. 10 foot ceilings.
So I took everything out. Have no idea where it all is going to go, but I'll figure something out.
Brought the babies up first, then put Momma in a carrier (no resistance). They settled in nicely and I've placed the vacuum cleaner in the doorway from the greatroom to the living to deter Lily and Charcoal from entering the living room. It's about the only thing of which they are afraid.
Momma is quiet.. only meows when I go in with her canned food.
I made a nice bed for them... but Momma prefers they hang out on the fleece picnic blanket on the floor. I put the blanket in the bed, she took it out. Okay Momma.. Have it your way.
The ivory baby's fur is darkening a bit and I can see his ears starting to darken as well. This tells me Momma has the genes for points somewhere in her dna. We'll see if this baby's eyes stay blue.
Adorable! So mamma cat is taking good care of her babies?
Well, it looks like she is. I weighed the babies two days ago and just finished weighing them earlier. They are right on track gaining a half an ounce a day.
Looks like things are going good so far, and Mom Cat is taking good care of them. Bless you for taking care of them all like you are. Thanks for posting the pic of the newborns.... adorable.
Good luck.

With Siamese cats being so popular for so many years the gene for "points" is surely spread through the cat population in general. Or maybe it's a mutation that just happens in some litters. I've seen beautiful pointed kittens in litters of common old house cats. At the vet last summer (in the waiting room) a women came in with 4 kittens in a carrier. They were born under her porch and were to be neutered and spayed. One looked exactly like a lilac Siamese complete with blue eyes. It was a real beauty. The other kittens were the usual colors.
Both parents need the points gene. I knew the suspected father did.......but didn't know if Momma Kitty did.
Of note, I tried trapping the father for 7 months to no avail. Sadly, he is no longer with us as he was attacked by a roaming pit bull and killed.
That pit bull should be trapped ! and relocated. How sad. That is why I am SO adamant about kitties being kept in the home.
House kitties live longer because they are healthy, are happier, don't catch diseases and parasites, not vulnerable to attacks by other animals, large birds etc. If you love your animal, protect it !
