Once a year in general. But I'm a worry-wort and if I even think one of them is acting a little off, they go right then. So they all usually end up at the vet more than once a year.

I answered "when they need vaccinated or when they are sick." Since I found Bobbles 15 months ago, she has been to the vet at least 6 times. The Basset has been to the vet 4 times in the same timeframe and to an eye specialist. None of the Basset's appointments were physicals. He's due for one, but there's no point in taking him since he has had blood work and xrays within the past 12 months. He is also of the age I won't vaccinate him again in his life. I don't believe in vaccinating older indoor dogs.
Don't get vaccines beyond kitten shots. Both are 12 and are indoors and healthy. Both eat high quality food-Oscar has rx food for IBD. When any of our 4 pets get sick -never except when Oscar was diagnosed with IBD I immediately take them to the vet.
Langley hides when it is time to go to the vet even though he is comfortable with the carrier which is out all the time.
All 4 need dental cleaning-will cost a fortune and I will have all the necessary blood draws then and check ups. After that I will do senior annuals. I think 6 months is excessive- at least for me.
Do you six monthers go to your own doctors for physicals twice a year?
Yes, I go to my doc twice a year, or more often if needed, but the twice a year is because I take medications and my condition has to be monitored.
But here's the thing. I know if there is something wrong with me.
Cats, on the other hand, are masters of hiding discomfort, illness, or even excruciating pain. They aren't going to tell me, hey I have a lump in my stomach, or my ear hurts way down in, or I have a toothache, please take me to the vet.
Example: a cat is "fine" at her check up. If she should develop a toothache say three or four months after her check up, that's another 9 months she has to suffer, before she is seen again.
In addition, since they go twice a year, my vet is very familiar with what's normal for them, which means she is going to notice something abnormal, that I might not notice, not being a vet, and not having the tools to examine ears eyes and mouth, not having the knowledge and experience to see something amiss, and seeing them every day.
And finally, going twice a year allows them to know the place, be familiar with it. Of course, they don't like it, but they know what to expect. They know my vet, they know the vet tech.
So yes, every six months for my girls, because it's the right thing to do, for us.

At age 8, it's every year. After 10, it's every 6 months. I have a cat that is nearing 16 years old and he goes sometimes more than that. I am an official cat hypochondriac!
Once a year; my cats are 8. They went in March, and they really need a good dental cleaning, but I'm trying to hold off because I'm unemployed.
My vet recommends semi-annual visits after age 10.
