A 33-pound, "grossly overweight" cat was rescued last week from the home in Sea Isle City, New Jersey, shelter officials told the Press of Atlantic City. When officers found Sprinkles, she was so obese that she couldn't roll over or properly groom herself. At four years old, she's three times her average weight.
A pound a month is really too fast for a cat that heavy. Poor girl, first abused and then abandoned. She'll get good care now, thank goodness the shelter seems to understand that a canned diet is necessary for weight loss.
But a pound a month is really too much. Should be a half pound, 2 ounces a week. She's a beautiful cat, aside from her gross size.
OMG that obese at only four years old?!? And then to leave her behind? People. . . .
