My 16 year old cat wants to eat all the time! My current theory is to feed her whenever she wants since she is 16 and I'm glad she is healthy and I have found a high quality wet food she likes. She is a little overweight, but, she has been for 14 years Does anybody have any problems like this or any other ideas? I do keep a bowl of dry food that she eats on occasion if she gets hungry, but, she only eats a bit of it.
Hi Storm. My 18 year old baby boy was doing that too. And he was meowing. A lot. So we took him in and found out he has hyperthyroidism. It's controlled by medication. He has been doing great since we put him on the medicine. He doesn't seem so "desperately" hungry now. I would suggest a vet visit as well.

That does seem like a good idea to check for sure. She seems very healthy otherwise. As long as it isn't more than $200 I can take her in about two weeks that is when I get paid. I will call the vet and schedule an appointment. I think she had a bunch of tests about nine years ago but clearly things could have changed.
Yep, a senior blood panel would be a good idea as already suggested. I'm in a small town and my vet charges right at $100.00 for an exam & SBP. Depends on where you are I suppose, but I would think $200 would more than do it in most places.
Good luck & hope it's nothing serious.

Fabulous! I'm fairly certain she is fine, but, just to be sure I will take her for tests. I switched her to some delicious high quality wet cat food and she has the fur coat of a kitten again She is a little bit chubby and run around and jumps up on the kitchen table!!! Not bad for a 16 year old kitty
I'm in the expensive northeast.....Lily's senior panel: blood and urine - is $140.
Is that covered by pet insurance?
