Speaking only for myself, the noise that they make is more often than not accompanied by severe physical assault and after completion the "look"
OMG, I forgot about "the look": that certain facial expression that a cat is capable of that communicates that what you have just done to him/her has been an utter violation of the cat's autonomy.
The "look," in conjunction with the noise (which I call "screaming") and the physical assaulting (according to the cat, the human is actually doing the assaulting), just reminds me that cats aren't fully domesticated. It's probably because of the baths
I guess I've been fortunate to have the self-cleaning models. I've never had to use a cat groomer. I just run a furminator through once in a while and keep their nails trimmed when they snuggle in for a canoodling time. If I ever find a little mat, I just snip it off with a small scissors.
A small garbage can. One that you can lean into. Six inches of soapy water, make sure the sides of the can are soaped up. Place cat in can with you leaning over and the close confines and the soapy walls will very quickly intimidate the cat.
They get this hopeless look on their faces. SO SAD!! But you are busy soaping them up. Best if you have another can with clean water next to it but that may be asking too much of folks. A small tub will probably suffice. It's amazing how quickly they become defeated with this technique. But they get over it. I've done this in a bathtub with a big plastic glass for rinsing and a gentle spray hose.

Some claim that cats have no facial expressions. They obviously have never lived with a cat

Oh, they have facial expressions all right.
It's just that some folks fail to 'read' them... at their own peril.
It also helps to read facial expressions combined with body language. I can usually tell when mine are upset with me over some perceived infraction.
The kitty that I started this thread about has gone home to be with his parents. Nice to have had him, but also nice to return to normal, if you can call having two cats as landlords normal
