hello all
to start off I am looking into getting a Russian Blue and I want to make sure that I wont be neglecting it with my work schedule. I work a 24 on 24 off schedule and sometimes I have to work 2 days in a row, however I can make time to come home for a little while if I am at work for more then one day. also every other week I am scheduled three days off in a row. I know it sounds confusing but on average I'm at work three days a week. I am single and just moved to a new state and wanted to adopt a pet but I want to make sure to get the right pet for me. any advice would be appreciated.

That would be a very lonely life for any animal. Go to the shelter and find a bonded adult pair of cats, who can't be separated. Plan to hire a pet sitter to come in and feed them every 8 to 10 hours.

ITA with cats mom. If you can adopt a pair of bonded adult cats, that would be a great choice. There may even be a pair of bonded Russian Blues if you find a rescue group or use Petfinder. Given your work situation, it would be difficult to adopt kittens--they require more frequent playtime and feeding.

I agree with the above posted about possible adopting a bonded pair of adult cats. Even though Russian Blues strongly bond with their owners (I've had 2), they still need some sort of companionship during long periods when they would otherwise be alone. My current RS, Sweet Pea, was described by the shelter as being aggressive toward other cats, yet my only male, Scooter, is definitely her "boyfriend". She plays with him constantly, or at least until I'm available. Good luck with your search! I hope you find the perfect pets.
