Gracie and Bolo are beautiful. I have two tuxedo cats - twice the fun of trying to tell them apart from behind or from the side.

My cats seem to change their interaction preferences from year to year. They're 10 now. They like to play, then they don't. They like catnip, then they don't. Then they do again. They like tummy rubs for a few months, then it's verboten. Etc. You just have to roll with it.

I won't even get into their shifting food preferences.

I didn't know my cats as kittens, so there was no mourning their kitten stage. They came as adolescents - and the female was on her way to being a teen mom!

Oh yes, that's quite familiar. We have an old saying here in Kansas- "If you don't like the weather, wait 10 minutes and it will change". Cats are sort of the same way. Just when you have their daily routine/preferences/habits all figured out, they change on you. Then you have to start all over, wondering if there might be something wrong with them that needs your attention , or not. I've gone through this many times over the years, and have even made a few trips to the vet when nothing was wrong with them. It wouldn't surprise me if they change their habits on occasion just to make sure we're paying attention to them.

As to food preferences, I once attempted to make up a food chart of who liked what on what day (had 7 cats at the time) to make my shopping easier. I quickly realized that my advanced math & Quantum Physics skills were not up to the task, and abandoned the project. Now I just buy plenty of all favors and wing it every day.
