Rowan is still not going regularly despite getting 3-5 ml of lactulose twice a day. She goes maybe two times a week. I'm going to try the Miralax now. You said 1/2 teaspoon mixed with some water. Can I add that to her wet food or do I have to put in a medicine dropper and give it to her that way? Is Miralax tasteless?

MOST people just add it to wet food -- but then, MOST cats will eat wet food, haha! Also, don't start with that high a dose; start low (most begin with 1/8 tsp. and work their way up; 1/4 tsp. seems adequate for most cats; mine is a serious case). I found the lactulose to be completely useless, as have many other "megacolon moms." Good luck!

Still no freakin' bowel movement! I can't believe it. She got the full dose lactulose last night and I just put another 1/2 teaspoon mixed with a little water in her canned food. This situation cost me over $600 two weeks ago and the vet finally had to sedate her and remove the dried feces manually after three enemas didn't work.

Lactulose is useless -- at least in my experience. Try Miralax. 1/8 tsp./day to start, either sprinkled on/mixed in wet cat food (not tuna) or dissolved in water and administered with an eyedropper. Good luck.

I have been giving her 1/2 teaspoon of Miralax that I have dissolved in water and added to her wet food. Still no bowel movement. This is crazy. She had better go today or it's going to be back to the vet again.

This morning Rowan woke me up to her digging in the litter box. I happily ran over to check for poop and nope, just pee. A few minutes later she was in the other litter box in another room and I started to smell something. Hallelujah! She pooped, not only pooped but diarrhea. That will teach her to go 5 days without pooping! Don't know if it was the Miralax in her food, in her water or the 5 ml of lactulose but she's cleaned out for now. :-)

Hooray! Now that she's "evacuated," I would advise starting over with just 1/8 -- okay, 1/4 (since she seems to be a serious case) tsp. of Miralax a day in a small bit of wet cat food if she'll eat it all (not a bowl of water). See how that goes. Again, I wouldn't bother with the lactulose, which I found to be useless, but that's just me. You don't want to overdose.

So the Miralax is tasteless and doesn't have to be mixed with water - I can just sprinkle it on her food?
