So I have a designated sock drawer in my dresser, for socks, underwear, and laundry day PJs. One side is purely socks and, for some reason, my cat is obsessed with opening the drawer and pulling out a handful before just leaving. He never moves them, plays with them, sits in the dresser, goes to do his business in it, or really does anything with the socks. He just pulls the dresser open and yanks out a pretty consistent amount until walking away. This first two times this happened I thought it was me until I saw him doing it.

At times it's annoying, cause he'll do it five or six times in a row if I put them back in (which I do since I live in a studio and space is a premium), but mostly it's kinda funny cause I'll be sitting playing a game and hear the drawer open and he's in it and pulling out socks. Just socks... Using his paws, no claws, to just scoop them out. And it's kinda weird cause he can reach the other drawers and ignores those.

So either he dislikes my socks or my dresser is just too interesting to ignore.

Hee hee, both no doubt....funny.

my cat uses his paw like that, as a tool....he cups objects and tosses them of bites them...he plays catch the ball often, where I throw a little ball slowly at him and he whacks it across the room.

Could your cat need more stimulation, you think,,,?

I had a Drill Sargent in Army Basic Training do the same thing to me. My socks (and other things) weren't folded neatly enough. Maybe your cat is trying to tell you something.

My cat likes too open the cupboard in the bathroom and dig out all the washcloths. She has tried to crawl in but it is just too small of a space. She does this so often with such enthusiasm I just let her have digging out ones just for her and out the ones I use on a different shelf. She seems to get great satisfaction and fulfillment of accomplishing this particular task of being able to arrange the world to her liking.

When I was a kid I resolved to not join the Army if i had a choice because I saw Gomer Pyle on TV and realized that my housekeeping (making bed, folding socks, etc) would never be acceptable to a drill sergeant.

Now that is just adorable! He's made up his own "sock game!" I'll bet if you just put some socks on the floor he would not find that as interesting. LOL

He doesn't, that's what makes it more funny! I have socks I leave folded up on a table or my chair and he ignores those. I'll have a bundle I just cleaned on my bed, he glances at them. For some reason the ones in my drawer are very interesting!

And he ALWAYS goes in from the left side! He's very particular.
