I have one of those and it is a good description. She's been with me for nearly eleven years now and knows the rules and the schedule. I've come to realize that when she gets too demanding about being petted it can sometimes be a mild act of aggression.
We work it out but it's important to me that she understand that sometimes, when I have something in my hand, it means I am occupied with something and good manners calls for not butting my hand or grabbing at it.
She's not the most patient cat I've ever had and we still seem to always be working at rewards for waiting her turn. I know she's not dumb so it's her persistent effort to run things around here I try to keep from creeping.
Morning it's DH's time to show her affection. Then she sleeps. In the evening she comes to my chair and then it's my turn so she certainly isn't being neglected. She's just one of those cats that wants to be petted all the time. And also insistent.
This story certainly makes the point though that people should know the nature of the kind of animal they are planning to adopt. Might be easier with dogs than with cats.
