Electra got her name because I wanted something from Mythology that ended in an "A." I know it sounds crazy but I she has had the name for 18 years and hasn't complained about it. Her nickname is Squeak-because she does.

Elvira got her name when she came to our house on Halloween. We had just given out the candy and turned off the porch light. There was a knock at the door. Hubby opened it and it was a local constable holding a purring kitten in his hands. "Is this yours?" We should have said, "Not yet." He couldn't take her home because his German Shepard would eat her for lunch and she was running out in the road and he thought she would get hit. We said that we would take her for the night. That night lasted 13 years. We still don't know if she is a trick or a treat. Elvira: Mischief of the dark. Her nickname is Mew-because she does.

Josette we named after a character from Dark Shadows. When we got her 5 years ago, we were in the middle of watching the series (the ORIGINAL from the '60s) and we thought it was a pretty name. Her nickname is Peep-because she does.

love hearing the names. and the nicknames.
and the noises.

Named a kitten Squeep once because that's what he told me his name was. The adopters renamed him Jax. I figure a good home entitles the adopters to change the name.

My cat's "official" name is Marina, because I found her when I was working in a building at a marina.

But I never call her that, I just call her Kitty or Kitty the Cat. Or often, just "Cats" (plural). Like, I'll say, "Oh, I think Cats must be hungry," even though there's only 1 cat!

Butterscotch to match her coloring. I got her from a rescue and her original name was Daisy. But, I had a friend named Daisy, so I thought it would be awkward. We are no longer friends, but Butterscotch remains Butterscotch. It fits her sweet personality perfectly. She is also called baby girl and little one.

Default Midnight Mistoffelees Jackson

I kept Midnight's name that his originial owner had given him. His middle name is Mistoffelees. I got the name from the "Cats" musical I used to watch all the time when I was a kid. Mistoffelees was the Black and White cat in the musical. And he has my last name.
