It's been over a week!
I saved the little thing 2 years ago, so skinny, clumps of hair falling out...she just came in the doggie door meowing 15 min ago.
Skinny, can't stop drinking....so, that means she was not found and taken care of by anyone nearby.
She is shedding in my hand, not untypical for summer, of course....I decided to smell
her fur...and my dirty hand....just as I have been saying to only 3 people...I think she got closed into someone's garage....sure enough it smells like a garage...that 'oily floor' smell....not a barn or shed...
no people smell, hand lotion, etc.
I couldn't really tell people, cuz they have SO many problems of their own....so here I am
in shock talking to to all you guys!!!!!
I did everything, signs, the Pound, walking, calling and listening for her, looked on Craig's Found list...
she doesn't have a chip, is fixed, tho.
Whew.
My sister got a favorite cat back after, IIRC, 10 years! Sis and her hubby are farmers and have dozens of cats, but this was the one that came into the house. No, it wasn't invited, and no, it didn't come in by itself. It learned how to open doors, to grasp the doorknob and turn it. Other cats followed. (She had video taped it.)
Congratulations to you!
The longest I've ever had a cat missing was about a week. I don't let them outside, but sometimes they escape. This one escaped shortly after my late wife died, probably because so many people were coming and going, maybe just because he missed his human. It was two weeks after her death, and I was about to leave for her memorial in NJ. Just before leaving I took one last look around outside, came in the front door, looked upstairs and said something to the effect that I had to leave. At that very instant I heard the MEOW behind me, opened the front door and the damned cat sanders in like he'd never been gone.
I honestly thought it was a little spooky.
