Just wanted to say our tuxie had her r. eye taken out on last Fri. due to painful Glaucoma found. No idea how or why? Lab results of eye will be told me on 8/27 when followup w/ eye doc. I can't deal well w/ this.

ALL say cat's do ok w/ one eye but i surely don't looking at it & feeling horrible for her. had bad dreams this past few days too. My g/f is in Phys. Rehab to add chaos to all this. SHe may have fallen on our cat to cause blunt force trauma causing, now, blindness/eye loss in our cat. Just wanted to vent...

Glaucoma is a hereditary disease. You can't, as far as I know, get it from injury. So stop feeling guilty that your gf caused it in your cat. I can understand you sharing the cat's pain, but it's not your fault and if her eye doctor is a good one, she really will be fine and will adjust to the one eye. Easier if she's an indoor cat.

TY very much for this info. I really worry that this unknown cause could be due to g/f's medical toxicity & her subsequent falling on our girl.

She lays in liv rm floor daily & sleeps on my g/f on couch when g/f lays & watches tv. She trusts us so much for over 10yrs now. I never thought anything like this could/would occur. It still bothers me in middle of night when I awake & I go find her in the apt & make sure she is ok where ever she is. I can't get past this worry.

Also, my g/f is still in rehab hosp for physical rehab yet since 8/6. It has been a real mess here & I have not slept more than a few hrs at time since Fri nite. I'm a train wreck w/ worry & guilt. But TY all very much for the words of support & encouragement.

We have dealt with eye issues with our Benny for 16+ years (he has many issues, including glaucoma and cataracts). Our experience is that the specialists don't know why these things happen. Sometimes you can manage a condition with eye drops (like us) and other times you can't (like you).

Please don't beat yourself up over this. Your cat will heal up and adjust fine. And soon, the "winking" you see on his face will look normal to you.

Can't rep you but thank you very much, Rene. We could've tried drops but surgeon said her pain will outweigh them. So I did what I thought right for her then & there. The cost alone staggered me but if my baby is in pain I had to do it.

Often 2ndary tho to another disease. In our unknown age cat, what can that mean? I see cancers linked sometimes.

Our cat Monkey had his eye removed due to glaucoma almost 4 years ago. It happened very quickly and the drops did not bring his pressure down. He has adjusted perfectly. Stop worrying about how/why it happened and just take care of your fur baby. She will be just fine.

I always 2nd/3rd/4th/5th, etc. guess ALL decisions I make re cats & their health. I guess I can't rest til I worry over & over. Ha, I figure if I worry/dig/probe/research enough I can help/control outcomes. It is really my calling card in life when it comes to anything virtually. It matters not if it is health of loved ones or my self, etc.

I NEVER feel ok that enough is done & continue searching for more answers even if the ? was answered 100x. Ha, I "kinda like this over the top thinking behavior", says my younger sis of me, "as you love pushing yourself to limits other normal folks would not even think of doing". It is like I did w/ insane working out to compensate from losing my hair younger. I went to the hardcore bodybuilding gym & took out my frustration on the world re it & thus blew my back trying to be Mr Olympia in the 80-90s. LOL

I am extreme & this health worry re my kitty is another glaring example but -- it is in my DNA to act this way I guess. It IS what makes me -- ME -- I suppose, for better or worse.
