no hard proof still very sad over his passing and I want to know2 why
I'm sorry for your loss, but it is your vet you need to speak to about your cat's diagnosis.
What treatment did they try? What diagnostics did they do? Was his bladder blocked?
Unless you or someone in your family has/had Covid-19 he did not have it. There is only one positive feline case in all the world of a cat's feces testing positive after showing certain respiratory symptoms, and over 724,000 people have been confirmed as having it.
It is very common for people to opt for private cremation and keep the ashes of their pet.

No, it cannot be transmitted from human to cat. Nor to dog nor any other animal.
Edit: yes the virus can be transferred between animals and humans because an infected person could leave behind the virus upon the coat if he pets the animal or sneezes on him. However, animals and humans generally do not react to germs in the same way. Please read what the experts have to say before believing an animal contracted COVID-19 and died from it. https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019...g/animals.html
So sorry for your loss.
What tests did the vet run to determine that euthanizing was the only option?

Reason: Clarification of virus transmission
This thread is beyond sad but even more insane. How in the world does a cat go from being w/ a slightly unknown illness to dead w/ NO sensible explanation nor concern? How is this possible, please tell me? I do all I can to help an outdoor feral for 3 yrs now & here lies an indoor cat monitored, & able to be taken asap when symptoms arise to a vet.
And yet, the poor kitty is not only taken finally to the vet but is then put to sleep w/ absolutely NO reason or explanation other than, huh? Oh my. This is beyond rational thought & clearly warrants a further detailed evaluation, period, Sorry to sound harsh but something is clearly amiss here & everyone here can see the obvious insanity that this presents.
I cannot believe that the Vets final call to me was to try to sell me Jakes ashes
I'm sorry for your loss, and my heart goes out to you. But as far as 'selling' you his ashes, that wasn't the case at all. Cremation services, even for an animal, is quite expensive. For the most part they are farmed out to the closest crematorium. The last pet I had to put down cost me about $160 including a private cremation (which means you get the ashes back).
In all fairness to the OP & the vet involved, sometimes it isn't possible to know what happened without a necropsy. It happened to me in 2011 with a 6 year old cat. I couldn't afford the cost to find the answer.
Perhaps that was what happened here.
