Feed him a lot of food and water at night.

Have you realized that you are part of the problem? He meows until you get up and feed him. His bad behavior is rewarded, consistently! How to correct this? There are several methods, first, keep your door shut, he is outside the door. You could also spray him with a water bottle when he wakes you up. I had a cat that would bite my hand until I got up, I did not mean to do this, but once he was biting me to get up and feed him, and I back handed him (- was still half asleep), I can tell you, he never bit me again. Now, I don't recommend that method, but it did work. Also, are you feeding him enough food? My cat always has a bowl of dry, and I feed him a can of wet at night.

Perhaps he is bored, maybe you need to go get lots of toys, and a cat condo for him.

Kitties will run you in circles if you let them - I know how hard this must be especially since it has gone on so long but have you tried just ignoring him - If a cat does something I dont like I try to ignore the behavior -Such as when I adopted Missy Pearl she decided she would wake me up when she was hungry - She would jump up on the bed and do all sorts of things to get me up - I just pretended I was sleeping through everything - She gave up that idea within a week -

OP...I had a cat just like that. Unfortunately, I think we reinforced his behavior. He would want fresh water from the sink and would scream in the middle of the night. Sometimes he would do it because he was bored. Whoever heard it first would run to shut him up, so he didn't wake up the whole house. So, he kept doing it because his humans weren't well trained. Lol. We eventually shut bedroom doors and had white-noise machines turned on. It helped. We can look back and laugh about it now. He died at age 15 and what we wouldn't give to have that chatterbox back in our lives
