I'm so very sorry to read this. I hope in time, the pain will fade and you'll be able to laugh at the good memories he gave you. Sending purrs from our house.
Thanks for the many kind words and well wishes. Two days later, I still have the ache, but more dulled and general instead of feeling like my heart will give out.
I miss him, think fondly of his goofiness, and am comforted by knowing a bunch of cats out there have found proper roommates. Times like these, it's remarkable how positive Internet forums can be. =)
Cats are proof of God to me. I didn't like cats when my I took in my first stray. God knew I needed a friend. Ms. Margo was my Best Girl. I talk to her picture on my phone. She loved rides in my truck, so a smidge of her ashes hang from a chain in a locket hanging from my rear view mirror. Sometimes I talk to her tiny traveling urn when I'm driving home from a long day that was part of a long week. I very often ask God when I pray if Ms. Margo is giving Him good kisses. I think she awaiting me on the far bank of the gulf spanned by the bridge.
Cats choose us. You are special because you were chosen. Revel in the memories you have ... you were chosen.
So sorry for your loss OP. I recently had to make the same decision, so I literally feel your pain. As Diesel said, he chose you, and loved you and knew you loved him. That gift of love has a price, to be sure, but it is soooo worth it.
May your grief soon change to the fond memories of him.
Sorry about your furkid. They really are special companions, and it never gets any easier to lose one. May your memories of Sammy comfort you during this difficult time.
