I know I'm thinking about this too much. I can't help it right now. I know eventually the pain will ease. My husband was with Lucky in his last moments. He made eye contact with him and held him the entire time. I waited outside with our kids. If it wasn't for COVID, I would've done my best to go in too but I knew there was no point in me even trying. My husband said it was very peaceful. I just hope my husband being there helped Lucky. They were very close throughout Lucky's life. I'd hate to think that Lucky was scared. Do you think pets are aware of our presence as they make their transition to somewhere over the rainbow?

If Lucky was close to your hubby, there was trust, not fear.

Absolutely.

I have sadly had to put down two dogs and I was with them at the end.
It was peaceful and I know they knew I was there.

Yes, I do. We just helped our Benny to the Bridge today. My husband held him as he went to sleep. It was peaceful.

They were definitely very close. Lucky often slept curled up next to my husband all night. It was so cute. Thank you.
