I didn't really pay attention before, but my cat seems to not want anyone around when he drinks. He waits till people go away to drink and if u ever come in he will stare at you till u leave again.

Do other cats do that?

My silly cat will come to get me so I will watch him drink! Seriously!

The goofy thing is that if I walk into the bathroom when he's using the litter box, I immediately turn around and walk out! It just feels "wrong" to not give them privacy. I just wish he felt the same way!

I watch mine use the box whenever I have a chance. That way I get to see if everything is coming out OK and that they don't seem to be straining or in pain or anything that would indicate a problem.

I have one cat that evidently feels that same way about me, because when I am sitting on the toilet with my pants down around my knees, she jumps in there and won't get out until I flush the toilet.

If I happen to be wearing a pair of pants with big legs, I get up, pull up my pants and she comes out the bottom of the leg.

That's a hobby you might want to think about keeping to yourself.

I'm not sure about when she drinks, but mine likes to have me stand there while she eats. Mine is a Russian Blue and they like hanging out with their human (most of the time, unless she in one of her moods).

If you see cat poop as a hobby, you have a lot in common with my neighbor's dog.

Not only is digging it up his favorite pastime, he rewards himself for a job well done by eating it.

My Tobey is like your cat. We only give our cats water from the faucet, and he won't start drinking until I leave. I've peaked around the corner at him, and he also walks around the sink a few times and turns his back to the faucet like he just doesn't need it before he will FINALLY start drinking.

Ninja doesn't mind if you watch him drink, or even pet him while he is drinking.

Everybody's different. Every cat is as unique as every other living being. He probably feels a bit vulnerable because cats close their eyes when they drink. He's normal. Just give him the freedom and space to be who he is and he will love you.

My three boy cats don't care a whit who's looking at them. My little girl cat insisted years ago she will not eat or drink on the floor with those boys, and will only eat and drink from her own dishes on the counter. And she will not eat or drink when I'm looking at her.

Everybody's got to live life the way they want to...

Gracie does not mind if my daughter or I watch her eat , but if a stranger comes into the house, she remains at attention on the chair near her food just in case the visitor might want to steal a bit of those tasty morsels......
