I have 2 senior female cats. One of them I administered Advantage II flea treatment to because I suspected she might have fleas. All of a sudden both of my cats seem to have diarrhea. I kept the one I gave the flea treatment to isolated for about 5 hrs. They don't particularly care for each other so I know the non-treated cat would not have licked the other cat. Maybe this is coincidental and they ate a bad can of cat food. Any thoughts? Both are spayed, indoor-only cats. (One of them got out of the house several weeks ago for about a half hr so that's why I treated her)

I am not sure it matters how they got it right at the moment. You want to get it stopped because they get dehydrated. Then you start talking vet bills and they can also lose a ton of weight very quickly and are in trouble.

I buy a liquid anti-diarrheal and disguise it in my cat's favorite food (which happens to be small bits of baked organic chicken breast). It usually stops it within 2-3 doses of it (so, kitty gets better in about 1-2 days.

They make this specifically for cats. I keep it on hand and even if I don't use it I frequently check the expiration date and buy more so I always have it on hand.

This is the last type I bought. You can walk into Petco and pick up the same type of medicine in a different brand.

They are both eating well, drinking water and seem fine otherwise. They eat almost exclusively canned cat food. I'll go look for the anti-diarrhea med at the pet store. Thank you for the recommendation

I have been to my local Petco and other pet stores in the area and no one has any brand of anti-diarrhea medicine. It has been such a frustrating day.

That's why God invented Amazon...

Now you know why I keep it on hand whether I use it or not.

You can also try a probiotic, which is available at most pet stores. Or canned pumpkin (if they’ll eat it).
