I have had two Maincoons Bella and Xena, they are now long gone, but it has been about 5 years since I have had a cat. And have been looking to get another maincoon...... we have since moved to New Mexico and we cannot find a breeder or cattery any where us, that raises Maincoon. Please help
Google Mainecoons and many breeders will show. You may have to have one shipped to you. This is not unusal to do. It will cost an extra couple hundred dollars, plus the cost of a kennel and health certifcate.
Before buying a cat, please consider adoption. There are lots of great cats who need homes.
Here's a good site to find some of the available pets. Petfinder; Maine Coon search You can search by breed, area, age... Also try calling your local shelters.
I agree 100% with the shelter/adoption option. In July 2007 I adopted two Maine Coon mixes, age 7, brothers, from a local rescue group. They were surrendered because the owners got a new dog and the cats didn't get along with the dog; for this they lost their home of seven years. Their loss, our gain. Fox and Ringo are big boys, about 18 lbs. each, they have one cat brother, Pumpkin, at our house who is the "little cat" at 14 lbs. and they have been coddled and babied since the day they arrived. I'm very partial to the big kitties, they can be "klutzy" and not very dainty at all, but they are big cuddle buddies. Best of luck in finding the right Maine Coon mix or purebred for your family!
i fourth the idea of adoption. We used to foster kittens for the SPCA and several of our fosters were maine coon mixes. Petfinder is a great way to find pets in your area from shelters and adoption groups.

There's a beautiful Maine Coon female that hangs around outside my house. I'm 99% sure she doesn't have a home because she's always around and all the neighbors feed her. I would take her in if I could but I already have 2 and my older cat and her don't get along at all. He watches here though the window and wants to get out and kill her.
She's a beautiful and lovable cat. I can't believe she doesn't fall asleep at the foot of someone's bed every night.
