Does anyone have a clue what this behavior is about or what could be causing it?
Feline DNA. It's what they do.
My childhood cat would be sound asleep in the family room. Suddenly, she'd raise her head, jump off the chair and speed through the kitchen and into the hall, and then stand there looking confused like she couldn't remember where she was or why.
The spouse's cat would tear down the stairs and into the living room. More often than not, he wouldn't apply the brakes in time and end up crashing into the front door, emitting a pained "mrow?". Then he'd just trot off into another room, with an "I meant to do that" look in his eyes.
I am sooooo glad I don't have a downstairs neighbor right now. Last night, my 2 hairballs had the time of their life at 12:00 AM!!!! not only the night crazies racing around then the WWF body slam contest, slapfest and then chase OVER THE BED I was trying to sleep in. After 15 minutes I grabbed Bubba and held him in the bed with me to calm him down.. Annabelle came to bed shortly there after. Of course, they'd been sleeping all day. I swear I'm gonna start chasing them around with the vacuum cleaner every evening just to wear them out!!
My and my sister's cats tend to do the the CatRace 2000 just prior to using the litter box. We have decided that they must have a bit of an intestinal cramp that only racing will ease and a trip to the litter box will cure.
It is rather comical to see them streaking through the house, hell bent for election. LOL
Recently, one of my two indoor cats has taken to, without apparent cause, racing around the house at full speed. This does not occur at any particular time of day or night, just whenever she feels like it. My other cat just kind of sits and watches with that special look of a cat that we all know.
Does anyone have a clue what this behavior is about or what could be causing it?
Thanks
She is getting her exercise.
My cat is almost 15 years old. He still races, but not as often. When he was young, he would race in the middle of the night and bounce off my face as I was in bed trying to sleep.
When I approach my coonlet, I don't know if he is going to look up at me and say Daddy, rub my ears or if he is going to run from me at 900 miles per hour
Wait till you have two of them and they chase each other around at top speed, leaping over the sofa, running behind the (brand new) LCD TV, jumping thro the dining chairs and hitting their heads on the underside of the bed. SO much fun! Especially at 4am.
