Songbird, your Pumpkin is with my Marzipan, who passed in Sept. 2008 at the age of 21, from kidney failure, after enduring a year of I.V.'s at home. They are now free of pain, running and jumping, and biting grass, and feeling like young kittens again. And best of all, they are waiting for us.....when we get to the pearly gates, just think who is going to run up to you first?????? Pumpkin was sent to you to bring you a joy you never knew, and you are better for it now. Your heart is bigger and you can love better. I share your pain. I know your grief. We were the lucky ones to have them.

Thank you for sharing his story. I adopted my first pet 5 months ago. I could have never imagined how much you start to love your pet. I am so sorry for your loss.

What a sad but beautiful story/eulogy. My heart goes out to you. My guys are curled up on my legs and this just made me cry so badly just imagining when pieces of my heart will taken from me.

Take the time to grieve and then maybe you can rescue a sweetie that needs a loving home.

I feel for you... Mo

I am reading a good book right now to help me reconcile my loss. It's called The Loss of a Pet, A Guide to Coping with the Grieving Process When A Pet Dies, by Wallace Sife, PhD.
It is easing my pain.
I also recommend Cat Caught My Heart , Stories of Wisdom, Hope and Purrfect Love by Michael Capuzzo and Teresa Banik Capuzzo.
I have lost pets before but this last time really broke my heart and I fell into a deep depression that I'm still battling daily. But these wonderful books are a comfort.
I hope you are doing ok.
