Even though he was neutered, Smokey was a territorial sprayer. But he never sprayed inside the house until one day when one of his adversaries from the neighborhood sneaked in and sprayed up the place.

Of course Smokey couldn't have that in his house so he went and counter sprayed every place the other guy hit. We cleaned it up the best we could with enzyme odor eliminators and the smell went away.

Actually, we just think the odor went away. We probably just got used to it because when our daughter came to visit she always said how "Tom catty" the place smelled.

But then she moved in with us and the "Tom catty" smell went away.

You'd obviously be cleaning out the pants...but to me, the lesser of 2 evils. Better than him spraying your home.
I am still laughing at the image of trying to get stud pants on my kitty...!!! I think I would most definitely come away from that scenario seriously maimed, lol!

I am trying to picture that too. I am not sure how my kitty would react. If you do try it be sure to take a video to share.

I have a hard enough time trying to put a belly band my 5 lb puppymill yorkie.

I was actually very serious. None of our breeders have ever had a problem with them.

Well, things have been looking good around here, he has not sprayed (ironically) since I started this thread! I have great hope that it was a couple of isolated incidents and that we can wait until he is 7 months to do the deed (I would feel better giving it that extra month, just to be sure he is ready...) I plan to pick up some rescue remedy regardless, it seems like a good thing to have on-hand in general, and I will try the stud pants if I need to...(and be sure to videotape it so you can all laugh at me...lol!) I also have a garment wrap for dogs that I picked up while caring for an incontinent injured & abandoned Daschund (RIP Tummy!) but Im not sure if it would work...?

I adopted a big white male persian from people some years ago that was not neutered. It took me two weeks to get an app. with my vet to get him neutered. I cannot tell you how much spraying he was doing. It was like I had a lion in the house! I do not think you little guy will stop until you get him neutered. I would try to confine him to a big crate for if he starts to spray again.

Chances are that the neutering will take care of the spraying. It always has around here.

luvmycat,

I have several feral cats by my home, and the males spray terrible. I use and highly recommend Nature's Miracle to get rid of the smell, if you can still smell it. It works like a charm.

Thanks everyone for the responses & advice! I will pick up some Natures Miracle, (I have Simple Solution, but I want to try the other one to compare effectiveness!) I have been cleaning, cleaning, and cleaning some more...scooping his box every time I pass by and there is something to scoop, have set up a whole room for him & his sister Harley, complete with a huge cage transformed into a comfy bunk bed, toys, scratching posts, and even a few extra snuggle spots. They are loving it...almost every time I come home, they are both in the room napping or just relaxing. He wanders out to play with the dogs for awhile or for a quick snuggle, he has been really good and has not been spraying. I have also been playing with him a lot more, (like whenever he starts jumping around like a crazy person, he could easily join the dogs in play but I think he is trying to tell me he wants to play with me when he does these things, so I actually stop what I am doing and comply.) He feels catered to, which is fine with me if it means no nasty smells going on in my clean little house! Speak of the devil, here he comes now...his ears must have been ringing, lol!
