This is an old thread but unfortunately pets are regularly abandoned. It is easy to fall out with a friend its difficult when its a relative. Brother-in-law had two dogs had them for years, decided to go aboard for a holiday his choice was between kennels or rehoming. He opted to rehome them, not the same as leaving them to fend for themselves, but how can you bring a pup up, then years down the line have it rehomed.
To me a pet is a lifetime responsibility. There are exceptions when circumstances change and the pet needs to be rehomed I don't have a problem with this, but lame excuses make me very cross and to abandon an animal makes me sick these people are inhuman.
