I could empathize with someone wanting to send their pet through the scanner rather than walk him or her through security. One of the most anxiety-filled moments of my life was taking my poor cat out of his carrier (after he got carsick on the way to the airport and had to take a quick bath in a restroom) and hope he didn't bolt while going through security. Poor dear was so dejected he just hid his little head in my neck out of embarrassment. :P But under normal circumstances, he would have been dying to see what was going on and make new friends. We didn't have a choice but to fly as I was moving across the country and did not have a car at the time, but I would rather never do that again. Eep!
