Feliway didn't work for us. I think one of the problems is that if you have a large house, the effect is diffused. We used it for awhile, and I thought the problem had been solved until I discovered that Mia was peeing on the hardwood floor right by the door. I had noticed some wet spots but thought it was leaky garbage. I caught her in the act when I heard a scratching noise and saw that she was scratching the floor as most cats would scratch the litterbox.
The puppy pads work well for the pee, but our latest twist is that Mia has taken to pooping on the carpet in our 2nd floor hallway. Lord only knows where she's peeing b/c the puppy pads are mostly being used by Louie the puppy. This morning I noticed Raoul watching something in the hallway and sure enough, it was Mia taking a poop. For her, peeing outside the box is the norm, unfortunately. Pooping outside the box signifies displeasure.
We have 2 litterboxes. One the cats do not use at all, but I keep it b/c of the 2 cats/2 litterboxes rule. The other one is now being used exclusively by Raoul. It sounds weird but I can tell the difference between their poops. He buries his; she doesn't. In the meantime, Nature's Miracle is my friend! I definitely think she's upset about the puppy, but we've had him for 7 months and she's actually less scared of him than Raoul is. The only bright side is that the litterbox requires a lot less scooping with only one cat using it.
I'm going out of town next weekend and my husband is gonna have a fit if he steps in cat poop!
