I always felt so sorry for dogs and cats in pet stores in the mall so whenever I had a chance I would ask to see one or more in the private socialization room and play with them. I knew it was good for them and it was good for me too. Clerks caught on and didn't seem to mind I was exercising the animals and giving them some affection.

Also every chance I got I would tell customers to never buy a dog from a pet store cause it just perpetuates puppy mills. I handed out cards for pet rescues and asked them to be discreet in front of store clerks but I found out the clerks knew what I was doing and encouraged me to keep it up. They knew the conditions of these puppy mills and only worked in these pet shops hoping they could make a difference.

When we lived near a PetSmart, I used to shop there for litter and food.
I would always go and visit the cats and pet them.
I had to stop doing it because it made me so sad when I had to leave them there.

My next door neighbor bought a kitten from a pet shop for $250. When I asked her if that included a vet exam, spaying and shots, she said no. Luckily, the kitten turned out to be healthy, and her other kitten was brought back from Mexico in a cage with 50 others. She is also healthy.

I finally convinced her to let me take them in to have them spayed.

You are a perverse, sick man. You should not be creepin' on little kitties. That's disgusting. You are a petifile in the making. This is not normal; you need mental help. This addiction disgusts me, get some alcohol instead.

And drinking is the answer? Wow! That opens up a whole host of other issues. I'd rather pet a cat then get drunk any day of the week! Anybody fancy going and petting a cat with me later today?

If drinking is the answer, what was the question? Maybe it should be rephrased.

I like to drink on occasion (especially gin & tonic), but what that has to do with petting cats beats me. Chaseystarz, if Wichita weren't so far from Ft Worth, I'd love to.

Hey, we're only an eight hour drive away from each other! I'll come on down. How's that?

Eight hour drive? That's a lot, although it wouldn't be bad on my motorcycle. Sure, come on down (as Bob Barker used to say)!

Why don't we all just set a time & have "pet hour" at your nearest pet smart or shelter?
Yeah, I always have to stop and say hi to the kitties @ Pet Smart, too. I time it just right (we live 20 miles out of town) so that EVERY week I need something! One week litter, next week dry food, then moist food or treats & of course, the "special" food for the feral guy we keep feeding on the porch! So far D/H has not caught on that it's just my sick twisted NEED to see to the needs of the ones "behind the wall" - I cannot have any more, but I pray for good homes for them. Most of them are BIG kitties, too! Embrace your fixation, folks - it's purely healthy all round!
