Since you called him "Dude" my first though was....Lebowski.

That way you could still call him "Dude" as a nickname. Or "Big".

The other name that springs to mind is "Laszlo". He just looks like a Laszlo (or Lazlo or Lazlow) to me. I must be on an L kick today.

He has eyes the colour of the rock or stone called Tiger's eye, so maybe "Tiger".

Murphy is a doll! I love orange cats. I had a big orange tabby named Titan once and always said if I got another he would be called Titan II. It just fit.
